- Students who register for summer will automatically be given consideration for financial aid. Students should register for all of their summer classes as soon as possible in order to be considered. Funding is limited, so there is no guarantee on who will receive an award.
- Students must be enrolled at least half-time for most summer award programs. Please refer to the Program Eligibility Charts for more detailed information regarding required hours.
- New UCF students who begin enrollment in the summer must complete the 2007-2008 FAFSA to receive financial aid.
- Summer financial aid will be awarded beginning mid April for students that have registered for summer hours.
- For students with all of their hours of enrollment in summer B, financial aid will be awarded after Add/Drop has ended for summer B, June 27th. Updates to financial aid awards to accommodate summer B enrollment will also occur shortly after June 27th.
SUMMER STAFFORD/PLUS LOANS: Students who would like to apply for a summer Stafford Loan, must complete the Stafford Loan Request Form found under the 2007-2008 Forms menu on our Web site. The PLUS Loan Request Form is required for parent loans for the summer semester.
SUMMER FEDERAL PELL GRANT: Federal Pell Grant recipients are eligible for summer Pell if they have not already received two full-time semesters of Pell grant during fall and spring of this year. The Office of Student Financial Assistance will verify the amount of Pell used at UCF and other schools for each student in order to determine summer Pell eligibility.
SUMMER GRANT PROGRAMS and FEDERAL PERKINS LOAN: There is no separate application for other summer grants or Perkins loans. Students must have a completed 2007-2008 FAFSA, must have a complete file with our office (no items remaining on the myUCF “To Do List” for this year), and must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours.
FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES: There is no summer funding for the Florida Bright Futures.
SUMMER SESSION DISBURSEMENT: During the summer semester, there are four sessions in which students may enroll (A, B, C, and D). Classes begin for summer A, C, and D on May 12th, while classes for summer B begin much later, on June 23rd. For students who have an award program that requires 6 credit hours, disbursement of their financial aid will not occur until classes have begun for all 6 hours. If students are using summer B hours to meet this requirement, disbursement will not be made until after summer B begins.
Stafford Loan Example: Undergraduate students must be enrolled a minimum of 6 credit hours at the time of disbursement. For example, if students have 3 hours summer A and 3 hours summer B, their Stafford Loan will not disburse until summer B.
Pell Grant Example: Undergraduate students who have full time eligibility for a summer Pell grant, and enroll in 6 credit hours for summer A and 6 credit hours in summer B, the first disbursement of Pell will be based only on A term hours. Funds for B term hours will be disbursed after B term begins.
