Scholarship F.A.Q.
Is the FAFSA required to apply for scholarships?
Many scholarships require you to file the FAFSA. It is highly
recommended that students complete the FAFSA in order to be considered
for the best award package.
What scholarships can I apply for at UCF?
Beginning in January of each year, students should check the online
scholarship listing our office displays for available scholarships
(most are for the upcoming academic year). This scholarship listing
is published each month on our Web site, and is posted on a bulletin
board outside our office in Millican Hall. By visiting our Web
site, a student can link to a free national scholarship search.
Students can also contact their family's employers, clubs and
organizations, to see if they offer scholarships.
What mailing address should
I provide for my scholarship donor?
When mailing scholarship recipients’ checks to UCF, please use our official address listed below. Please request that the donor include your full name and social security or student identification number (PID) on the check.
Mailing Address:
Office of Student Financial Assistance
4000 Central Florida Blvd.
Millican Hall, Room 120
Orlando, FL 32816-0113
How can I get verification of enrollment sent to my scholarship donor?
Students may obtain their enrollment verification online through
MyUCF.
Go to http://registrar.ucf.edu for additional information on how to obtain enrollment certification.
Where do I get a fee invoice
to send to my scholarship donor?
Go to the MyUCF Web site at http://connect.ucf.edu
(For Students- Financial Services-Fee Invoice & E-Pay), any
kiosk on campus, or to the college of your major.
My private donor scholarship
is renewable. Why is it not posted automatically each year to
my financial aid awards?
In order for a renewable scholarship to be posted, a copy of the
renewal letter from the donor must be submitted. Most scholarships
that are renewable require the recipient to continue to meet the
criteria specified at the time the scholarship was originally
awarded. The process for private scholarship renewal is handled
by each donor; therefore, documentation from the donor must be
submitted to confirm that the donor has renewed the scholarship.
Where can I get a receipt
for tuition reimbursement of fees paid?
On the Web or a campus Kiosk, you can find and print your fee
invoice, which will outline your charges and payments. If you
are unable to access this data online call (407) 823-2433, or
stop by Student Accounts, Millican Hall, Room, 107.
A scholarship check was mailed directly to me and is payable to UCF and myself. What do I do with the check so I can receive the funds?
Check made payable to UCF and the student must be signed and submitted to the Office of Student Financial Assistance for processing.
A scholarship check was mailed directly to me and is payable to me. I also receive financial aid at UCF. What should I do with the check?
Submit a photocopy of the check to the Office of Student Financial Assistance. The award will appear as a direct pay scholarship on your financial aid file.
Has my check been sent to UCF from for my scholarship from a private donor?
As checks are received they are posted to your financial aid file and can be viewed on your MyUCF, Student Center, View Financial Aid in the accepted status. If the scholarship is not listed you are encouraged to contact the donor to confirm when the funds will be sent.
I have decided not to attend UCF, but I am a recipient of a private scholarship and the donor has already sent the funds to UCF. Will UCF transfer the funds to the school I plan to attend or to the donor?
The Office of Student Financial Assistance will not transfer scholarship checks to another institution. The funds will be returned to the donor. Students are encouraged to contact their donors to provide updated information as their educational plans change.
I will be attending UCF in the spring semester? What scholarship opportunities are available for mid-term freshmen and transfer students?
Generally UCF awards scholarships on a yearly basis ( Fall / Spring). Midyear scholarship opportunities are limited. The Office of Student Financial Assistance posts information for scholarship opportunities regularly on our Web site scholarship listing.
I have a form that needs to be filled out by Financial Aid. Where do I go to get this done?
If the form requires enrollment verification please submit the form to the Registrar’s Office Located in Millican Hall. If the form requires financial aid information submit the form to the Office of Student Financial Assistance within 3 to 5 business days. Forms will be submitted directly to the organization.
How is my private scholarship applied to my account?
If no specific instructions are provided, The Office of Student Financial Assistance will automatically divide private scholarships equally between the fall and spring semesters. Private scholarships of $500 or less will be applied in full to the semester in which it is received. The university will default to the presumption of a full time enrollment requirement for all scholarship unless alternate instructions are received from the donor.
My donor has allowed an exception to their normal requirements. What do I do?
Request that the donor provide the information concerning the exception in writing. The information can be mailed to the Office of Student Financial Assistance, 4000 Central Florida Blvd., Millican Hall, Room 120, Orlando, Florida, 32816-0113.
I need my private scholarship to defer the charges on my student account. What do I need to submit?
Submit a copy of the private scholarship donor’s award letter to the Office of Student Financial Assistance and the information will be added to your financial aid file with 3 to 5 business days. The award will assist with the deferment of the charges on your student account. Copies submitted without your UCF PID will cause delays in posting of the information.
