WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS
PEGASUS/ HIGH ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED?
The High Achievement Scholarship
Program includes National Merit, National Achievement, National
Hispanic and the Pegasus Scholarships. In addition, we have
several Community College Scholarships that are awarded based
on high academic achievement. They include the Ralph C. Boston,
Articulated Honors to Honors, Cultural Diversity, CC High Academic
Achievement, CC Phi Theta Kappa, All Florida Academic First
Team, All Florida Academic Second Team, and CC Director’s
Special Achievement.
HOW IS PEGASUS/ HIGH
ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED?
These scholarships are awarded
to entering high school graduates by Undergraduate Admissions
based on academic performance. There is no application for this
scholarship. When you apply for admission to UCF, you are automatically
considered. The High Achievement Scholarship Program includes
National Merit, National Achievement, National Hispanic and
Pegasus Scholarships.
HOW LONG WILL YOU RECEIVE
THIS SCHOLARSHIP?
A maximum of 8 terms
or until graduation.
Students whose major requires 124 or more hours may receive
a one term extension. (Double majors and minors are not considered)
A letter from the department verifying the number of hours required
must be submitted the Office of Student Financial Assistance
prior to the 9th term.
CAN YOU GET THE PEGASUS/
HIGH ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP IN THE SUMMER?
Yes, if you ask for
it. The Request for High Achievement Scholarship for
the Summer Term form can be downloaded from our Web site. You
must submit it in prior to the beginning of summer classes.
Each Summer term used will count as one of the 8 terms of eligibility.
You must enroll in 9 UCF hours to get the scholarship in the
summer.
WHAT ARE THE RENEWAL
REQUIREMENTS?
We check your academic progress
once per year, after spring grades have been posted. You must
have successfully completed 24 hours for the previous fall and
spring terms. In addition, you must maintain the GPA that is
stipulated on the initial award letter you received from Undergraduate
Admissions.
If you fall below the hours
or GPA requirements, you will be taken off of the scholarship
program. If extenuating circumstances caused you to do poorly,
you may submit a Scholarship Appeal Form. All Pegasus/ High
Achievement Scholarship appeals must be received in the Office
of Student Financial Assistance no later than June 30th.

IF YOU NEED TO TAKE TIME
OFF FROM YOUR STUDIES AT UCF, WILL YOU RETAIN YOUR PEGASUS/ HIGH
ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP?
Possibly.
You must do a Scholarship Appeal prior to the term(s) that you
plan to be away from UCF, stating the reasons that you need
the time. The UCF Scholarship Committee will review your request
and decide the outcome. If you leave UCF without asking for
the time off, you will not be reinstated to the scholarship
program upon your return. Extenuating circumstances are the
exception.
CAN I CO-OP AND REMAIN
ON THIS SCHOLARSHIP?
Yes.
If you want to co-op, you must let us know in writing which
term you plan to co-op prior to that term. We will hold your
scholarship until you return as a full-time student the following
term.
MY
SCHOLARSHIP WAS IN THE FORM OF A WAIVER OF NON-RESIDENT FEES,
BUT I AM NOW A FLORIDA RESIDENT FOR TUITION PURPOSES. WHAT HAPPENS
TO MY AWARD?
The
waiver award will not be replaced.
WHAT
HAPPENS IF I HAVE SEVERAL UNIVERSITY SPONSORED SOURCES PROVIDING
FUNDS TO COVER THE COST OF THE OUT OF STATE PORTION OF MY TUITION?
Any combination of UCF-sponsored non resident
waiver awards cannot exceed 95 percent of the total cost of
non-Florida resident tuition and fees. UCF reserves the right
to adjust this scholarship to comply with the above university
policy.
