The Office
of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) of the Florida Department
of Education, in Tallahassee, has an excellent website
that explains the Bright
Futures Scholarship program in great detail.
A student
must be enrolled in at least 6 non-remedial undergraduate (or
combination of undergraduate and approved graduate) hours in
order to receive any funding.
Two
exceptions to this policy
Florida Bright Futures will allow students to enroll in less
than six semester credit hours to receive funding if the student:
1)
needs less than six semester credit hours to graduate
If the
student needs less than six hours to graduate, they will
need to have their academic advisor send us a memo on letterhead
indicating this situation. The memo should include:
-Student's name, PID and SSN
-Name of course(s) needed for graduation
-Name of the undergraduate degree to be received.
OR
2)
has less than six semester credit hours of eligibility remaining
on his/her Bright Futures Scholarship.
Approved
Graduate Hours
Florida Bright Futures will allow our office to add in graduate
hours that will count toward an undergraduate degree. These
graduate hours will be added in with the existing undergraduate
hours and the award will be calculated at the undergraduate
rate. Students will need to have their academic
advisor send us a memo on letterhead indicating:
-Student's
name, PID and SSN
-Name of the graduate course(s)
-Name of the undergraduate degree these courses will count
toward.
