Selecting a Lender

Selecting a lender should only apply to first time borrowers.

If you have had Federal Stafford Loans in the past, we recommend that you continue to borrow from the same lender. If you change lenders or guarantors, you may be subject to multiple loan repayments or consolidation. Each time you change lenders, a Master Promissory Note is required.

To view your loan history, visit the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Web site at
www.nslds.ed.gov

The preferred lender list has been established to support our basic philosophy of providing quality service to our students. Inherent characteristics of this philosophy are:

• functional compatibility with our system
• prompt, quality response to processing issues
• timely and efficient delivery of loan funds
• quality follow up for Title IV and other adjustments

These attributes guide us in our selection of preferred lenders. Students and parents request our assistance when working through the multitude of lenders who market directly to them. This list provides a summary of good options. Further, as a borrower, you should understand the terms and conditions of loans from the lender you select.
