Direct PLUS Borrowing Limits

If an endorser was used to obtain credit worthiness, the total amount of the loan cannot exceed the endorsed amount.  If you would like to borrow more than the original endorsed amount, you must apply for a new PLUS Loan.  In addition, you will have to complete a new Master Promissory Note.

Optional/Private Loans

Once an Optional loan has been certified and the disclosure form has been signed, you can only request for a reinstatement or increase by following these steps:

  • Contact the lender to apply for a new application. Note that a new credit check may be required.
  • If your credit is approved, your lender will send the school a new certification request.

Optional Loan decreases and cancellations must be submitted prior to loan disbursements.

Making Adjustments on Federal Direct Disbursed Loans

If it has been more than 14 days from the date of the loan disbursement, or if you wish to return a partial amount of the loan, do not fill out this form. Contact your servicer for repayment options. To view your servicer’s contact information, please visit the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), www.nslds.ed.gov.

If your loan has disbursed within 14 days, you may submit a request to cancel the full disbursement. However, if any portion of the loan was used to pay tuition, book charges, Short Term Advances or Housing, then an accounts receivable will appear on your UCF account. It will be your responsibility to pay the resulting accounts receivable in a timely manner to avoid potential late fees.
